Even though I was a boy -- and thus undergoing different pressures to conform to an imposed gender stereotype of masculinit -- I remember observing the girls of my peer group. Well, for one thing, I was getting "interested in girls" (as they say), but I was also paying attention to how different individuals responded to similar gender conformity pressures. I don't think it went the way it is depicted above between Chloe and Michelle, but then, Wanderlost is not a documentary, either. But I do remember how one walked was a marker of maturity, sophistication, "cool" - or it showed you were still a dork, or just wanted to get the hell outta school before the beat down commenced.
I have no idea how I walk now. Probably like a parent in a hurry.
