This pretty much encapsulates the first ten years of Pang's life in four panels. It was fun to do! A nice break from the seriousness, anyway. I hope I can do more of these little strips along the way. Yay or nay?

Also please check out the awesome fanart from our very own Pom!

Jareds_Ghost says: First time posting, but I am loving this comic, I think that more of these little flashbacks would be sweet
Ikswo says: I say YAY! Might I also say that your comic is fantastic? Thank you so much for Pang! (What a great character!)
Pom says: Haha, brilliant. More of these would definitely be welcome.
Captain Jaspers says: Isn't Kiai Japanese?
ben says: Yeah, good call. I wasn't really thinking about it. What should it be? Any suggestions?
Pom says: The shifus tell us to yell, but they don't really specify any particular gutteral noise. They themselves make a kind of "Ha" or "Hur" noise. The vowel is kinda like the "i" in "Shi". But I don't think it's meant to mean anything. So no idea if there is a specific "I hit!" noise. "Ki-ai" worked for comic effect, at the very least.
Idunyken says: i'd like a traditional 'Blaf!' personally ^_^
Anonymous says: First time poster - just to get it out of the way: I simply love this comic! About the ki-ai: At my gong fu style we usually shout ki-ai at the end of a set of movements, to indicate a last and especially powerful/focused strike. And yes, we are aware it's Japanese. I've asked my trainer, but he doesn't know if there is a Chinese version of it. Probably we stuck with "ki-ai" because our master started out at Karate before studying gong fu :) And furthermore: Everytime I hit someone while training I'm going to tell them it's an expression of my love from now on :)
Bree says: I say yay!
Waldo says: OMG THAT'S THE HAPPIEST ENDING I'VE EVER SEEN!
Damien Walder says: Yay, aye, yes, ja, oui, Si, hai...
Anonymous says: His love is overwhelming.
A Ronin Philosopher says: One philosophy/Chi gong book gives 6 sounds for dispelling bad vibes/blocked chi and HA! (done with a deep breath and sudden explosion of exhale-ment) is done to clear the heart.... Fits in well with the sentiment one might think....
