About the ki-ai: At my gong fu style we usually shout ki-ai at the end of a set of movements, to indicate a last and especially powerful/focused strike. And yes, we are aware it's Japanese. I've asked my trainer, but he doesn't know if there is a Chinese version of it. Probably we stuck with "ki-ai" because our master started out at Karate before studying gong fu :) And furthermore: Everytime I hit someone while training I'm going to tell them it's an expression of my love from now on :)
